This weekend, I was lucky enough to be invited to see locals who studied traditional Japanese dance perform, and to be able to take pictures. I have just downloaded them, and I have about 8 gigs to get through!

I will be posting quite a few of them as references for poses for your drawings, as well as some stock! For now, here's a teaser of what I'm talking about:

Pretty sweet, huh?

Also, I have a ton from other events this month, including a traditional Kagura performance (with Oni!) and I just found a camera card I thought I had lost, with a ton of photos from this spring on it! Yay!

A year in Japan

2 min read
My husband and I have been in Japan for over a year now, in a small town in northern Kyushu, surrounded by fields, forests, and mountains. It is slightly surreal, to say the least. And it's hard to believe that it's been so long, yet it doesn't really feel like it.

Except when I go through my photo catalogs, that is. I swear, I've only uploaded stuff from the first few months we were here - I have an entire years worth of photos to put up, it seems!

While we haven't gone anywhere really far away, like Kyoto or Tokyo or Hiroshima, we have explored our little corner, and I'm kind of enjoying that. So, expect to see some more images for you guys to use coming up shortly. Many of them are tiny shrines and temples in the area, one's where the locals are surprised and sometimes confused that a foreigner is bothering to take pictures of! I've made it my mission, however, to get out to the countryside and at least visit, if not photograph, all of the little ones I can find, as a sort of personal documentation project.

As always, you can see some more stuffs over at my regular deviantart account taeliac, which is only ever so slightly more up to date, but please do not use those images for stock - don't worry, the base images for 90% of those will be put up here for you to use eventually!

I'm working on setting up a YouTube site for our random videos from Japan - usually my husband or I wandering around parks or shrines and being surprised by a giant pile of YuGiOh! cards laying on the floor of a temple or whatnot. I'll post that link when I get it up if anyone is interested :3

Much love from Japan!

To Japan we go!

1 min read
In case you don't follow my regular account, taeliac, in the middle of October, we wound up moving to Japan - Nakatsu-shi, on Kyushu, to be specific. Now, because of this, I have a backlog of both regular stock I've meant to get up here, but more importantly, a huge collection of photos from Japan - mostly temples, too, because I absolutely adore taking photos of them!

So, if you would like to see my regular images, take a look over at taeliac, and in the near future, there'll be a ton of photos added up here for your use!

:bulletblack: PS: If you are interested in following my photos and randomness from Japan, please check out my Tumblr or Flickr - I tend to get them updated before I get images up on dA!

Apparently, I haven't uploaded a new journal or stock for almost a year!! How can that be?! I don't believe it, actually, as I've been shooting stock photography every chance I get ^^;

With the new launching of sta.sh, however, I'm going to bust my butt to get as much stuff up here as possible as soon as possible. So far, I have quite a bit of nature work, and many, many more statues and tombstones from a cemetery we visited a while back. Oh, and a ton more from the House on the Rock a year ago :O See how far I am behind?

I do also plan on shooting a lot of object stock, shortly, especially of the random vintage pieces (pins, jewelry, etc) that I have floating around. And expect some costume stock soon, too - I'm thinking of shooting my husband in his pirate coat, and myself in my Polonaise (17th C. dress), and digging through my collection of costumes to get even more things that we can throw on people for pictures ;P Steampunk, most likely!

Anything in particular you're looking for? Like, if you've seen a costume piece I've made over at taeliac that you want to see something stock of, let me know, and if I still have the piece, I'll try to see if I can shoot it for you :3 Don't be afraid to ask, k?

So, another forthcoming flood of photos, but I don't think you'll mind - there's some really neat things waiting to get up here!

Well, as this is a stock account, I figure you're not going to be too upset about the flood of new deviations, but there are definitely going to be a lot of them.

Why does it always seem like when I'm sick, I sit and upload to my stock account all of those things I should have uploaded ages ago?!

We just returned from a weekend vacation (well, more like the most awesome event ever, the "Gathering of Gods" with author Neil Gaiman - check my regular dA account taeliac for more on that if you're interested) and I took so many pictures at the House on the Rock, it's not even funny.

If you haven't been there before (most people have never even heard of it, unless you're from Southern Wisconsin or around there...) it is really, really hard to describe in words. Umm... it's a rather eccentric guy who had a house built, first, and put some very odd collections in it. Then, he started building and building and building some more, adding more and more collections of things (from an entire replication of a Victorian street, to entire orchestras that play themselves (more than one - I counted at least 7 when I was there and not overwhelmed), and even a 4-story replica of a giant whale (-ish) fighting a giant octopus, entire rooms filled with nothing but clown dolls, and the worlds largest carousel :3

I did mention that it's really weird, right?

Well, while I could, I took some snapshots of whatever that would be stock-appropriate, although to be honest, I could have spent days just shooting stock!

So, that rambling aside, anything in my gallery tagged "HotR" is from there. The lighting is horribly dark, but I tried to get as many as possible with my flash, so there isn't a lot of noise...

 If you're especially inclined, I'm more than happy to accept donations via PayPal to fund another trip out there (it's a 3 hour drive from my house, but I'll happily make it when I can afford to again!) or points towards a subscription, so I can upload things via FTP much quicker.

Also, all of the images had to be downsized slightly from the original, because they are all 30+Meg images, and each was taking too long to upload by themselves (hence the points for a subscription *nudgenudge*) but if you need something in a larger format, I can dig out the originals - just send a note to my regular account taeliac and let me know which one(s) you need and I'll do my best to get them to you (I can get them to you in RAW, too, if you want to adjust them yourself...)
