Shrines : Temple Building 08 by taeliac-stock Shrines : Temple Building 08 by taeliac-stock
A building that reminded me of a German gingerbread house, only with a distinct Japanese style. Even with the roof falling into disrepair and everything. Just one of the smaller shrines at Usa Jingū, which is one of the most important Hachiman shrines in Japan, and happens to be about a 30 minute drive from our home here in Nakatsu!

I apologize for the editing done in post, but the light was very dark - the trees, even though getting bare for winter, are surprisingly dense in foliage - so I had to brighten it up a bit and reduce the noise as much as possible.

Quaint little shrine. Bright red with that green on the roof and all around is a lovely contrast of color. Despite the red paint being so bright and fresh, I think it's been there a while..

AKA, it's Japanese. :)

I didn't make the image. Between the image and the comment space the artist can write a description of materials used, inspiration, collab details, etc. Try taking a look. :) Sorry I can't help more than that.

The architectual design is fabulous. This must be a simple temple meant for meditation. It looks so small.

That is lovely. It's kinda nice to see one that's a little rough around the edges.

It is definitely worth it - there are so many beautiful shrines and temples around everywhere you look, tucked away into corners. It is a photographers dream (if you can handle the odd looks for being excited by things that most residents consider trivial ;P)

Hahah I know. When people visit where I live I think it's so normal and they look around starstuck with that "wow" in their eyes. But I will have to go see this temple. I wish I could live in it : )
